Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck, September 26, 1926 - October 18 1999) is an American actress and singer. Her career spanned more 40 years. London was a torch-singing singer known for her smooth, mellow vocals and smooth contralto voice was a recording artist on more than thirty albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955 and 1969. The first time she was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her rendition of "Cry Me a River" the song she introduced in her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for 1974 due to her performance in Emergency! as nurse Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's 35 year acting career began with film in 1944. It included parts in the lead female in various westerns. The singer signed a recording contract with Liberty Records in the mid-1950s. It was the beginning of her professional musical career. In 1969, she released her last studio album. However, she continued to be an actor on the Emergency series in the role of Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979) In the show, she appeared alongside her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb, her ex-husband, produced the show.
