Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of her difficulties through her vibrant and imaginative imagination. Her songs were written before she learned to read or write. Once she had her first guitar at the age of eight, she started performing on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. The same year she released her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made in the local scene while at high school, but wanted to perform on a larger stage. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show was in need of an additional singer around this point. Parton took the job in 1966, was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. Parton left the show however, in 1974 because her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton wrote "I will Always Be Loving You" to Wagoner just after the pair split. The track hit number. Its first appearance at number 1 was in 1974.
