Around the same time, she played major roles in other box-office failures such as Rise: Blood Hunter. She then started voicing prominent characters in animated films, such for Kung Fu Panda and Tinker Bell. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia and other small-screen characters didn't achieve successes. Southland's critically-acclaimed police drama, Southland and a recurring role helped Liu re-establish her as a performer. Liu plays her roles with the utmost respect so as to avoid being marginalized in a crowded industry. She's accepted her Chinese origins, yet she doesn't allow it to restrict her creativity.
